i nearly died just now. liz and i were on our way home from meeting up with tee and wongie. and we were driving up dufferin from wilson in her little white geo, and this huge ass canadian tire truck totally switched lanes and WE WERE IN THE FREAKING LANE!!!! she honked and honked but he didn't care. we're lucky we were driving in the left lane so she was forced into the median, fuck man. why can't anyone know how to drive anymore? that makes me soooo mad. it's raining and it's late and people don't have the courtesy to watch how they drive. i'm so pissed. and this happens on a normal day too. NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO DRIVE. it's like, hey let's pretend to go to driving school, pass the test and then promptly forget everything. we ended up taking down all his license plate numbers down, the cargo number and described the time and place so that liz will call and email and complain tomorrow. i hope he loses his job.

wow, that was such a bitter end to a crazy fun evening. ok, well we didn't really do anything, we just met up at futurs on bloor and went to have sushi. and afterwards tee invited liz and i to see her friend matt, who just got engaged to his boyfriend rene. they are such a darling couple, i love love gay guys. we went to the ramada in on jarvis and carlton (surprise surprise) where they had this big gorgeous room and just hung out for a bit and looked at pictures (did i mention they have a GAZILLION photos from their trip to tanzania?) man, i so want to go to africa right now.

anyway, i'm pissed and tired right now and that's just not a great combo. i'm going to sleep.

day 2: snowboarding

what a fantastic experience. i have to admit that i think i'm snowboarding the wrong way. i know for a fact that snowboarders face forward...however, i am most comfortable facing backwards! i think it has something to do with which foot is forward. i face forward with my left foot. it thought that the right foot at the back does the maneuvering but clearly i am wrong. but then, i was much too lazy to go in to change the foot forward...hence ending up snowboarding backwards! hahaha. that and plus getting up when i'm facing the hill is much easier then getting up when your ass is on the ground.

ah, which brings me to the various parts of my body that has been subjected to this torturous outdoor sport. (it's interesting but skiing brought the same results, but i suppose i can't remember skiing. haha) anyway, my butt isn't speaking to me anymore, i think that's a good thing. because it's my right knee that's bitching at me right now. i've got at least 4 bruises on my knee, is that possible? and my upper arms are just so sore. serves me right to go snowboarding two times in a row. i have various parts of my thigh and calf muscles screaming at me. that's partly what i'm not sleeping yet. i'm too scared to!

the weather has been pretty craptacular. it rained most of yesterday, thereby melting the snow. but it snowed overnight for a bit so that was exciting! karina came with connie and marta for the evening, and so we had a blast on the bunny hill. that's right...the BUNNY HILL. haha. my sister and i tried the big hill twice (and by big hill i simply mean the largest of the easy hills) and we finally gave up and went back to the bunny hill. hahaha.

but i'll be home tomorrow, and i'll rest up then. until then bailey's will have to do! ;p

where to start? ok i went and had my flu shot last night after work, and now my left arm is sore. it's sucks because it's always at these moments that i realize how important my left arm is and how often i run into it! there are these coat hangers in the women's washroom at work and i almost always run into them, i don't know why! and hugging people? i have to make sure that my left arm is on top of the other person's right arm! it definitely made it difficult today when i had a late lunch with tee and liz.

tee just came back from tanzania last night, and boy have i missed that girl. i'm so happy for her, she seems to have had an amazing time. i told her next time she wants to go to tanzania to let me know because i'd like to go. and knowing me, i'd go too! we were originally going to go to cafe demetres for dessert but after passing all these sushi restaurants we decided to eat sushi instead because tee hadn't had any since she'd left 3 months ago. mon dieu, i love sushi too much to go so long without! since i had some time before meeting the girls, i went to the eglinton centre and had laurinda gift wrap their presents so that they were all pretty!

tomorrow morning i'm going to blue mountain for the next couple of days. this year i'm going to try and learn how to snowboard. karina will be up on the 26th so i will go with her. it'll be a joint effort! until then i think i'll work on my skiing technique.

i'm also bringing up two movies, castle in the sky and amelie. i borrowed them both from alliance and so i'll be watching them in french. i thought i had this genius idea of watching the movies in french with french subtitles because i find that i understand better when i can see the words. i did that for the movie les miserables, but i found out that they don't actually translate word for word so that clearly didn't work out. i'm hoping these two will be better.

ames has also recommended that i read "hey nostradamus!" so that will also be brought up for some reading leisure when i'm tired of watching tv or knitting. i've gotten the hang of knitting now, the only problem is, i only know how to knit scarves. i'd like to try my hand at a toque, or perhaps some nice little mittens.

hey you know what's really good? peach and ginger tea.

everyone, merry christmas!

you know it's bad when cleaning my room is a major operation plan. plus sleeping in bed just isn't the same when all the blankets are bunched up in one corner and the other half of the bed isn't taken up by another person...but with clothes. anyway, i figured i'd do myself a favor and make my room pretty again. so now i have a bed.

i'm having the most incredible time right now. yesterday was flashback to the abbey days. tanaka came back for a bit from medical school in north carolina, so i organized a get-together (go wedding planner!) and i am still in shock as to how everyone was able to get their act together and meet up! maija came sans jonathan, and then had to leave earliest but she still had us in stiches about her little "activities" with hubby. charysee knitted me the most adorable arm-warmers! it's mostly grey-white with touches of blue and pink...AND purple and pink ribbons too! she totally knows my inner girly side! lilian showed up later with her fiance, michael...no one can still believe lilian's getting married.

it's so odd, but if feels like just yesterday that i was sitting in the cafeteria with all these girls and laughing and making fun of each other. just like old times, but OLDER. lilian pointed out that i never call satchmo anything other then satchmo. i suppose the nickname has just stuck, i can never call her "maureen" it's just not the same. satchmo's right! ;p

ROGER
Who do you think you are?
Barging in on me and my guitar
Little girl -- hey
The door is that way
You better go you know
The fire's out anyway
Take your powder -- take your candle
Your sweet whisper
I just can't handle
Well take your hair in the moonlight
Your brown eyes -- goodbye, goodnight
I should tell you I should tell you
I should tell you I should -- no!
Another time -- another place
Our temperature would climb
There'd be a long embrace
We'd do another dance
It'd be another play
Looking for romance?
Come back another day
Another day

MIMI
The heart may freeze or it can burn
The pain will ease if I can learn
There is no future
There is no past
I live this moment as my last
There's only us
There's only this
Forget regret
Or life is yours to miss
No other road
No other way
No day but today

ROGER
Excuse me if I'm off track
But if you're so wise
Then tell me -- why do you need smack?
Take your needle
Take your fancy prayer
And don't forget
Get the moonlight out of your hair
Long ago -- you might've lit up my heart
But the fire's dead -- ain't never ever gonna start
Another time -- another place
The words would only rhyme
We'd be in outer space
It'd be another song
We'd sing another way
You wanna prove me wrong?
Come back another day
Another day

MIMI
There's only yes
Only tonight
We must let go
To know what's right
No other course
No other way
No day but today
(Lights slowly fade up on the Life Support group.)

MIMI & OTHERS
I can't control
My destiny
I trust my soul
My only goal is just
To be
There's only now
There's only here
Give in to love
Or live in fear
No other path
No other way
No day but today...

ROGER
Control your temper
She doesn't see
Who says that there's a soul?
Just let me be...
Who do you think you are?
Barging in on me and my guitar
Little girl, hey
The door is that way
The fire's out anyway

ALL
No day but today
No day but today
No day but today
No day but today
No day but today

ROGER
Take your powder; take your candle
Take your brown eyes, your pretty smile, your silhouette
Another time, another place
Another rhyme, a warm embrace
Another dance, another way
Another chance, another day

- Live Another Day, RENT

i ran into laurinda on my way home monday evening, god that girl looks good. we met up for lunch the next day and had a really good heart-to-heart. it kills me the things we as human beings go through. you think you just watch it on tv, but then when you hear real live friends tell you the things they go through, it just seems so unreal. half of me wishes that she'd told me before, but realistically, what help can i give? all the love that a friend can give, but nothing else. i suppose a friend support is good to have but still, it's hard the whole feeling of helplessness.

life is hard. but it can also be good.

i say this as i look back on the last couple of months. i feel like in the past couple of weeks, i've taken on a new out look on life. suddenly i know where i'm going with my life (i hope.) david, my instructor at ryerson has opened a HUGE door for me regarding post-grad schooling and possibly grad school. i haven't been this excited since i don't know when. work is starting to look good, french is incredible, i *heart* alliance, and the best part is seeing old friends. friends define who you are, and i'm glad i have so many. always the greatest treat of all.

say WH-AAAAAT?!?!?

good weekend everyone. went with liz to georges' birthday at insomnia, and it was awesome. i haven't seen mu since phl384 and i met his incredibly cute girlfriend. monica is adorable as always, and yes i got to see avril and jt for maybe all of 3 mins, but it was still good.

i can now say that i've been to the T-Dogg's farm for The First Ever Michael Scofield Christmas Party. i loved it so much. finally, a party that i can make! and what an adventure just before walking in his house on saturday. lily, manny and i arrived just seconds before noel and erica. but noel's car promptly got itself stuck in the snow. so we had some pre-entertainment involving a shovel, manny pushing the car, and shooting spurts of snow from the back car wheels. good food and great music, terry definitely is a good host!

the house smells. we're varnishing the hardwood floors and since i've been at work it's been ok. but i've just come home, and the smell is enough to get me high. ;p

tanaka's back, went out with her and karina tonight, and then we bummed around at a shoppers drug mart waiting for someone to call and give us a ride, and who should do that but jacob! so we went over to jordan's house for a bit where mark proceeded to creep us out and we watched the simpsons while eating chips. ha.

christmas is almost here and the christmas parties are going crazy. eat, drink and be merry.

parlez de votre vie ideale au futur...

this is what it's come down to. it's 7am, i have half an hour to write a blurb on what i expect in my life in the future, and then i have to haul ass to class downtown. *sigh* and the worst part is i'm doing this to myself all by myself! :0

last class AF106 was last night, and boy will i miss the motley crue from our class. cathy and i decided that levan isn't really that bad looking afterall. and robert? geez, if only he'd started chatting with us BEFORE THE LAST CLASS. he is really quite an interesting character, if not only that.

wait wait, i have to stop reminising about the past...think FUTURE...

happy belated birthday satchmo, happy early birthday karina!

what great fun it was to see my girls this evening. for some reason, cha thinks i'm the funniest thing on earth, why? i don't see it. hrm...

poor satchmo didn't realize the restaurant she picked was so far up north, so while the rest of us were at the lcbo getting her "presents gift wrapped", she was freaking out cuz she was late for the reservation. and while she went out clubbing at "afterlife" with litta and claudia, the rest of us went to see maija's new apartment that she shares with her adorable hubby (who was at a bachlor's party this evening...convenient) and we stayed and watched this crazy home video that she had made with some of her girlfriends she lived with last year about a stalker. yah that's right you read correctly and no i'm not going to explain it. haha.

well i have gotten hold of 12 past exam papers for history 5 and i was sort of skimming through them today. it's unbelievable how scared shitless i am now. ack. well i have 5 more days left and i will definitely have to make the most of it by shutting myself in the basement with an endless supply of starbucks. so farewell until then.

and to imagine that after this i have to think about 4 counterpoint, 5 analysis and 5 harmony (because i can't remember if i took it or not...i think i did already)...the possiblity of dennis teaching 4 counterpoint to me and johnny? scary yet at the same time, enlightening.

because in the dark there may be fear,
but there's also hope."

- grey's anatomy, meredith grey

Monday, November 21, 2005

i have screwed up my sleep cycle yet again. i stayed up until 2am to watch hbo's "rome." i haven't been watching the show faithfully probably because i never know when it's playing, and i've never really taken the time to find out. but i'd usually see it playing sunday evenings as i'm taping desperate housewives and grey's anatomy (my favorite show this season by far!) so anyway, i decided for some godforsaken reason to watch this episode of rome tonight, and i find out it's the LAST episode of the season, and not only that...they killed off my favorite character! well actually, i like alot of the characters, but this girl (narobi)was so pretty. hahaha, i am SO materialistic like that!

now i'm debating if i want to pick up this tv show as a "must see" for me. it doesn't really matter because i read somewhere that it's on hiatus for the next two years, but just for kicks, huh?

god what a boring day today has been. i'm trying to get into "study-mood" but so far it's been a no go. i'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day.

Saturday, November 19, 2005

i went to bed right after my post last night. but i had the weirdest dream last night. i dreamed that i was walking past this store with my mom, and we decided to go in...and then we were watching a tv show infront of a stack of cupcakes, and they all fell down. and a whole bunch of girls were wondering how they fell over, and some random guy was saying in french that it was me. so then i turned around and started yelling at him in french that it had nothing to do with me. and he was so shocked that i understood him that he kind of ran away.

the end.

i know, i said it was weird.

Friday, November 18, 2005

it's too bad that my work was temporary and the contract is now done. my only hope is that my supervisor will randomly call me when things get really busy so that i will come in to help...and then january i can get a part-time/full-time job. let's cross our fingers and hope. on the bright side, now that i've filled my november working quota (no, i don't have a quota, but making $400 is always a good thing) i can concentrate on studying for my exam december 9th, AND enjoy going out with friends again.

which brings me to this fun story...larissa and i met up on wednesday evening to look for a nice venue for her birthday party (dec 2.) she had three places in mind. so we met up at bay and avenue at 10pm and walked to avenue and davenport to look for this place called "bohemian nightclub" that i have actually been to (like 2 years ago) and is now...well there IS no more bohemian, nightclub or anything. i couldn't stop laughing there was nothing there anymore! so then we walked to museum station and took the spadina streetcar to college to check out 2 more places. the supermarket (which looked fantastic and has a great dance floor inside with a rotating discoball), and then we walked all the way down augusta to look for another place called "the boat." the boat is a funny little run down chinese place, with chinese music floating up the stairs, a disco ball and floor, and NO PEOPLE. ahahaha. i think we're going to meet at "the supermarket" dec 2 at 9:30pm. come one come all, to larissa's birthday party!

i know i don't update as often as i would like, but i get home so late that i am usually exhausted and don't even have the time to check my email. so now that i've wrote a little, i'm hoping i can muster enough strength for next time. hahaha.

lalala...randomness...

A+ numero deux tonight! our group rocks! i have to admit that i felt completely unprepared tonight (compared to the last presentation) but we hit all the key spots and the prof is simply amazed with us. i'm looking to sign up with him in the next semester so i hope that all works out!

i just signed up with rcm for history 5. the deadline was 4 mins ago. hahaha. this is go number 3 i think. i now have a month and a half to prepare for this exam. lets cross our fingers and hope everything goes well!

french classes at alliance francaise begins tomorrow (today) again. cathy and i have changed our classes to the downtown spadina and bloor area. this too i hope will now turn for the better. we were very much unimpressed with the north york centre. updates will follow.

i've now seen LES MIS twice in a month. boy am i spoiled. that is my favorite favorite musical. i can see it forever and not get sick and tired of it. jake now listens to the cd over and over again in his car. it's so great. i *heart* les mis.

d'accord. maintenant, c'est fini. bon nuit!

Thursday, October 20, 2005

just for the record ames, even though there was a giant sticky on your monitor asking you to tape lost, you STILL managed to not get it right! you tape the lost episode on the LOST tape, not the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES tape!!!! gah! n'est pas difficile!

anyway, the whole reason for her taping for me was because i was at the new opening of the vegas bar tonight. very nice atmosphere, there was brie, and i had some, and well...you can imagine the results. hahaha. and there was a performance by three drag queens, it's the first time i've seen THAT. VERY interesting!

which reminds me of alicia, i'm not sure why, but yesterday we met up after my pr class and we were supposed to go to alan's little birthday shindig at the bedford ballroom, but that didn't work out, so we ended up walking around yorkville before settling at brownstones with tiramisu and decafe lattes. ah, heaven!

and cha is going to teach me how to knit! or she's going to knit me something, either way there is wool involved.

these last couple of weeks have been interesting, and i thought i'd blog about it but then i got tired so i'm just going to leave it at that.

Friday, October 07, 2005

things to do before i leave this weekend:

- send beth my new presentation slides
- send erin my apa bibliographies
- send pauline my presentation script
- pack my bag
- don't forget textbook (test tuesday!!)
- bring french stuff to review
- CLEAN MY ROOM

this is just crazy. i never get home before 10:30pm anymore. i have no time for my friends of family. i have to TAPE tv shows to watch another day. plus i'm tired.

french isn't going the way i want it to. i feel like i'm being screwed over with the amount of time i am paying for. the teacher is always rushing...why are you rushing? we're paying to LEARN not to sort of not understand what's going on. all the vocab i know is because i already knew it, i'm not learning any new vocab because she doesn't like getting up off her ass to the whiteboard (which is right behind her) to right the spelling. for example, wednesday she said "souhait" and i heard "sweat." i'm a visual learner, and this doesn't seem to be working. cat and i are pretty upset and we're going to be looking into the one at spadina and bloor for january. as for now, we have to make do with what we have now.

as for pr, it's been great. my group is great, pauline is forever giving me new jewellery every time i see her (she owns a jewellery company called lolobubsisters.) and we go out for lunch and have martinis and sushi. it's great. at least, not everyday is all work! especially since i work for orthodox jews and so i get a whole bunch of days off this month! ;p

either way, i get to spend quality time this weekend with matt, shelley and carmi. yay!

happy thanksgiving everyone!

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

fall's here, the weather's getting cooler, i'm so excited, i get to bust out my really nice jacket i bought in france! tee's gone to tanzania to save orphans, so good luck to her and her mission, and we'll see her in 3 months, whew, that means i don't have to go to oshawa any time soon. liz and i went to visit her sunday evening before she left, but we got lost because we went to the address for grandview SOUTH and not grandview NORTH. we definitely got to see alot more of the shwa then we wanted to! the good thing out of that visitation was seeing deans, ray and ana. sometimes it's just good to see old friends. ;p

yay to staying in pr. i definitely hit the jackpot with that. a great teacher, a
great course, a great group...what more could i want? after class today, i met up with alicia and we went to the papaya hut for smoothies. it's been awhile since i've been in that area...i kind of want my usual at not just noodles. hm, i'll think of that next time. the unfortunate thing is now i cannot get downtown any earlier then 6pm. I GOT A JOB! yay. no celebrating yet, i'd like to see how long i want to stay, for 2 weeks or 4 months? it really depends on what my mission is. i'll keep you all posted on that.

Tuesday, September 06, 2005

driving thought of the moment:

do i really really want to take that PR course at ryerson? it's driving me crazy.

edit
sept 13 - first episode of season 6 gilmore girls! it's about time!!!

Thursday, September 01, 2005

i don't even know how to start this rant post, so i'm just going to dive in...

i simply hate people who take advantage of nice people. when i see it happen to people who are close friends of mine, i will rip them apart because i can't stand my friends being taken advantage of. of course, when it comes to me, i just let it go. it totally sucks, but i hate being the nice person, and no matter how much i hate it as i see it happening to me, i don't say anything because that's just the way i am.

what am i referring to? i went to a friend's party last week and a girl there found out that i did piano accompanying and she asked me to accompany her for an hour for $20 for her audition tomorrow. i said of course. we met up yesterday and today, and spent over an hour with her, even taking her home when hart house kicked us out because we're supposedly not allowed to "sing" with the piano, it's just for listeners enjoyment. and did she give me any money? nope. nada. and as she was leaving, i couldn't even bring myself to say anything. i don't know HOW to ask for money.

she's not the first person who's done this to me. i've had a recent job where i did the job, i'm STILL waiting for the money, i don't even know HOW MUCH i'm being paid. i hate this so much. how do you discuss money when you're applying for jobs? it's my biggest pet peeve. the only thing i can do, is learn not to deal with that person again. i lose out.

grr, i'm so upset right now...

Saturday, August 13, 2005

i COULD be weird...but has no one else noticed that there's almost no more guacamole doritos being sold in the supermarkets? !!! i was craving them all last week and everywhere i went there was NONE! luckily, as i was bitching to alex and jordan yesterday, alex told me that his store still sold them! (NOT ANYMORE!!! i bought the last bag) so now what? what will i do the next time i crave guacamole chips?

my france photos have been developed!! you can check them out here. i'm very happy with the turnout, i wish i had more photos of my school and the city (Tours) where i was staying. i have a sneaking suspicion that those photos were part of the package where most of the photos didn't turn out. =( oh well, next time...because there WILL BE a next time! ;p

such an interesting and fun filled summer, but it's all coming to an end, and suddenly i'm lost as to what i'm going to be doing if i'm not at u of t this year. mind you, i hate u of t (besides the point) but the lazy person in me doesn't want to leave the cocoon of just enrolling and going to class and thinking that i can get a good job AFTERWARDS. because afterwards is here now...too much thinking! yikes!

anyway, i'm currently stuck in my basement because my parents have friends over and i don't feel like talking to them (awful, but true, so deal with it.) the only problem is that they've been here since 3:30pm and it's now almost 8pm. i went upstairs earlier to take a nap in hopes that they would be gone by the time i woke up...but oh no, they were STILL here 3 hours later (hey, i LIKE my naps.)

therefore, this is the perfect opportunity to catch up on unanswered emails and everything else i've been procrastinating. hahaha (maybe not!)

Wednesday, August 03, 2005

i'm home...and totally bored out of my mind ALREADY. did everyone read about the airplane crash at pearson airport yesterday? that was literally MY flight number and time TWO days earlier. can you imagine if i had decided to stay another 2 days? how scary is that? everyone in our program was so worried about the other people who had stayed, but we're lucky, no one we knew was actually on that flight!

in other news, i finished reading harry potter, the half-blood prince, and i haven't really decided what i think of it...it's certainly not quite as exciting as her other books, and there's definitely more "snogging" which i actually find quite funny, and i feel bad for the poor actor who will play ron and lavender. as for the climax part of the book, i think i will sleep on it...

oh yes, before i forget...i got home sunday evening, and there sitting on my desk...maija's wedding invitation! i'm so excited, my first official wedding invite! and there's also been other exciting news but i'll leave that for her to tell, but congrats!

but now, i must fix up my resume, i need another job...

Thursday, July 28, 2005

so this is it kids...the home stretch. the time here has flown by sooooo incredibly fast, it feels like a WHOLE day packed into one huge mumble jumble mess (a good mess at that.) i did some last minute shopping today, i bought the cutest black skirt, and some really cheap tank shirts at zara, succumbed to buying the cutest underwear package from etam, and i WILL be buying the new Thierry Mugler perfume: Le Lys Angel. mmmm yummy, it smells so nice!

we're going out for karaoke tonight, it's the last U of T self organized trip, and anyone who is still in Tours will be coming out...hahaha, i might sing if i'm drunk enough...hahaha. tomorrow i will be leaving early from class to go to Paris where i will crash with my sister and cousin belinda friday and saturday evening before we all go home on the group flight. so this is most likely my last post before i get back home...unless i feel like spending some money on internet in Paris, but that is quite unlikely. so watch out, here i come...home, something i haven't really started to miss yet, but nevertheless i'm sure i will be glad to be home when i do get back. just a little heads up to people who are planning on seeing me as soon as i get back...i've lost enough weight that even the people i live with has noticed. nono, i'm not aneorexic, i've been eating well enough, but it's been all healthy food (except for the little bag of chips i splurged on yesterday) and i've been walking an incredible amount. you know those stories where our parents start off with "when i was your age i had to walk 30 mins to school..."? yah, well i guess i can pull that one on my future kids too. hahahaha.

au revoir, see you all back in Toronto!
